Cell marker information

Nuclear Area - Senescence

Nuclear Area changes with normal cell cycle but is mostly affected when cells enter senescence. Members of our team have established that an increase above 2 standard deviations of the nuclear area can be used as an indicator of cell senescence and a reduction in nuclear area can be used as an indicator of apoptosis. In addition, the shape of the nucleus can also provide information about the induction of mitotic catastrophe, which is induced by agents acting on microtubules and causes extensive DNA damage.
